Work is done, fun begins!

Three days of conferring are over, so this afternoon I morphed into a tourist. First to the Gulbenkian Museum - small but excellent collection - then to the Botanical Gardens. Oops! Emerged from metro at the Zoological Gardens (clearly a favorite place for children's birthday parties). Back to the guidebook, metro and tram to the botanical gardens in Belem. "Just up the (a bit steep) hill". Meaning about a mile. And then the distinguishing feature was the boxwood hedges. Maybe there is another botanical gardens?

So, after a beer break, we visited the Belem Tower - well worth the 200 circular staircase climb. (links and pics to come).

Time to find a restaurant - not in the neighborhood where we have eaten the previous two nights. A couple of hours of walking, tramming and menu inspecting later we found a suitable sidewalk cafe. The food was good but the football match was on the tv so service was worse than usual.

More walking and metro and walking later, I've collapsed into bed. I hope I can move to orrrow
