Today was the first day of school, and Ethan's first day of kindergarden. He has been looking forward to this day for a long time. Both children were up early, dressed in their new clothes and packed their back packs ( pic here of Alexis checking her list of supplies.) Mark stayed home to make a special breakfast and walk to the school bus. (pic here of the family). There were about 10 elementary school children waiting for the bus - with moms and cameras of course. First a group photo (pics here of kids and one of moms lined up with their cameras). Here's the bus (pic) ... And away they went! (I took a photo of the moms after the bus had left, but they were jumping up and down so much that the pic is too blurry to post!)

We were busy all day - errands, cooking, projects - and soon it was time to walk down the hill again to meet the bus. (pic) Ethan's verdict on his first day - "It was disappointing. We didn't do math or reading or science." But he had a good time at recess! He doesn't go to school again till next week - the class is divided into thirds so the children (and teachers) have a small group experience at the beginning and afterwards the actual room assignments are made. I hope Ethan's in a group that does a lot of math, reading and science!

And we're trying not to think about the big storm we're missing on the east coast -we secured the boats to some extend, but not sufficiently for a really big wind.
